I’d like to start by congratulating Jashanpreet Kaur and Chris King, two Canadians selected as recipients of EAA scholarships. This issue of Bits and Pieces features an article about Jashanpreet, and a future issue will feature Chris. I receive many inquiries about scholarship opportunities, and I find that, in general, most of the application processes start opening in late fall and close at the end of spring. More information on EAA’s flight training, post-secondary, and the Ray Aviation scholarships can be found here.
Due to the cool spring weather, we still haven’t lost the ice off the Northern Manitoba lakes, and Alberta just received a dump of snow. We wish for adequate moisture so we don’t have forest fires this summer.
We’re less than 60 days to AirVenture. If you haven’t completed your request form for Little Canada camping, be sure to complete it very soon as Phil will be submitting it to EAA HQ. Looks like exciting air shows are planned!
If you will be at AirVenture and have a topic that you’d like to present on for about 30-40 minutes, please email me at chair.eaacc@gmail.com. We will once again host the Canadian Welcome BBQ on Sunday evening, July 19, and our traditions of the Ice Cream Social on Thursday, July 23, and the Canadian Breakfast, currently scheduled for Friday morning, July 24.
EAA has indicated they are working on a new insurance program for Canadian pilots, and significant updates are planned for their website. More to follow.
Here’s to safe flying and lots of adventure!
