EAA/RAA Chapters Amalgamate in Winnipeg

By Jack Neima, EAA Canadian Council

February 2020 - EAA Canadian Council chairman Jeff Seaborn recently wrote to former members of RAA Winnipeg, who late last year voted to amalgamate their chapter with EAA Chapter 63 in Manitoba. Jeff's letter acknowledged the many contributions to general/recreational aviation made by the Lyncrest-based RAA group over the years and welcomed them to the EAA family. The experience and skills of these folks has significantly strengthened Chapter 63 and will no doubt propel the amalgamated group to new heights.

The Lyncrest Airport, on the east side of Winnipeg, is owned and operated by the Springfield Flying Club and for many years has been home to both EAA Chapter 63 and RAA Winnipeg, along with a number of other aviation organizations. It is a rapidly growing and impressive grassroots operation that is well known across Canada and beyond. You may have seen their well-organized camp in the 101 Woods in Camp Scholler.

They continue to lead the way by demonstrating what can be accomplished by people with vision who work together for a common purpose. We look forward to hearing about their ongoing successes and wish president Tom Stoyka and all of the folks at Chapter 63 the best of luck. Clear skies and following winds!
