Middle school and high school participants will learn about the science involved in engineering an aircraft, as well as design and build a model of the F-35 in the Youth Education Center’s science and fabrication labs.

Throughout the activity, pilots, and engineers will be available to answer questions and share experiences from their careers in aviation!

The activity is completed in four 20-minute rotations which began at 9:00 AM. The last rotation begins at 10:30 am. All times are CDT, Oshkosh time

AviationTech Tuesday and Thursday Lab Activities


Air Frame & Power Plant Lab

Learn about the varieties of airframe construction and powerplant applications.

Circuitry Lab

Learn about circuitry and soldering and use your skills to complete the circuit for your aircraft model base. Install the board, switch, and light into the 3D-printed base.

Modeling Lab

Assemble the F35 model components, mount your model on the 3D-printed base, and light it up!

Flight Test Engineering Lab

Learn about flight test engineering and gain experience using Microsoft Flight Simulator to execute a series of flight tests.
