Pilot Proficiency Center at AirVenture

eaa pilot proficiency center

Do you have a mindset for growth? Do you want to sharpen your skills, deepen your knowledge, and fly better? Then join us at EAA's Pilot Proficiency Center this AirVenture! This year, EAA and Redbird have joined forces for focused, sim-based training built around real decision-making. Real proficiency isn't built in a classroom — it's built by making decisions under pressure, then understanding why. That's the heart of the Command Challenge: a mission briefing where you know your route and aircraft but not what's waiting, a debrief that's a conversation rather than a critique, and the rare chance to climb back in and fly it again. Then all 12 pilots come together to compare decisions and learn from one another.

Twelve pilots. Twelve simulators. One shared experience worth talking about.

Choose how you want to be challenged:

  • VFR Command Challenge (half-day) — Test your stick-and-rudder skills, judgment, and situational awareness. Requires 30 PIC hours in the last 12 months.
  • IFR Command Challenge (half-day) — Sharpen your decision-making in the system. Requires IFR currency or within the six-month grace period.
  • Personal Proficiency Challenge (half-day) — Build your own experience one-on-one with an EAA instructor. You set the goals; we'll help you crush them. Requires a student pilot certificate or higher.

If you meet the minimum experience and currency requirements, there's a seat waiting — but space is limited and fills fast. Click the button below to view the schedule and reserve your spot today.
