International Young Eagles Day Is Coming!

EAA

April 2024 – April 2024 – Get ready for Saturday, June 8, 2024, since this date will be our 31st annual International Young Eagles Day! Each year, we set aside one day to encourage all EAA members and chapters to participate in the Young Eagles program and provide free aircraft flights to youths ages 8-17. This is your opportunity to help introduce a new generation to the world of aviation.

EAA provides a wealth of resources to help chapters and individual pilots conduct Young Eagles flights. Our Young Eagles Volunteer Resources webpage at EAA.org/YEVolunteers includes everything you need, from rally planning resources to online forms for Young Eagles supplies, to volunteer recognition. Now is the time to order materials for your rally, apply for event insurance from EAA, and recruit your pilots and ground volunteers.

As always, Young Eagles coordinators and pilots must complete the EAA Youth Protection Policy before flying Young Eagles. Coordinators are also required to complete the EAA Young Eagles Risk Management Training before hosting a rally. In addition, at least two ground volunteers at the rally must complete YPP to ensure two-deep leadership at the event. We strongly encourage you to check out the EAA webinars below to help onboard new Young Eagles coordinators and to help chapters conduct a safe and successful rally:

If your chapter is using YoungEaglesDay.org (YEDay) to manage its Young Eagles rallies and to sign up the kids and volunteers, then we also encourage you to try out the Young Eagles Digital Signature app. This is an iPad-based tool that allows your pilots and the parents of the kids to sign electronically for the flights, thus avoiding the need to use paper waivers. To learn more about the digital signature app and how to use it, go to EAA.org/YEDigitalSignature.

If your chapter earned Young Eagles Credits from the flights it conducted last year, then you can use those credits to reimburse the costs of items you purchase for your chapter’s Young Eagles program and youth activities. Now is a good time to make use of those credits if you will be hosting a rally on International Young Eagles Day. To learn more and to see your chapter’s credit balance, visit EAA.org/YECredits.

We look forward to seeing a busy International Young Eagles Day this year! If you have any questions, please contact the EAA Young Eagles team at 800-564-6322 or at yeagles@eaa.org.
