Register to Attend Teacher Day at AirVenture 2018
May 10, 2018 - Educators seeking original ideas for incorporating aviation and aerospace concepts into their classrooms are encouraged to participate in the free Teacher Day activities, supported by Flight Test STEM, on Friday, July 27, during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018.
There are separate Teacher Day activities for teachers of pre-kindergarten through sixth grade and for those in seventh through 12th grade classrooms. Homeschool teachers are also invited and can be placed in the pathway best matching their students’ needs.
“We want to bring educators ideas that are easy to implement, affordable, and scalable for a variety of student experiences,” said Bret Steffen, EAA’s director of education, who is a former teacher and high school principal. “It’s also a great opportunity for educators to enjoy a day at The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.”
Activities include STEM experiences through flight and design curricula that incorporate aerospace ideas and initiatives. Presenters include Jake Marshall, Flite Test STEM curriculum developer, and Tara Parkhurst, EAA museum educator. Participants will complete the day with a design challenge to put their skills to the test with a free, hands-on STEM activity. In addition, Redbird flight simulators will also be available.
Space is limited, so teachers are encouraged to complete the free registration as soon as possible at www.EAA.org/teacherday. Registration closes on June 30, 2018.
