Classic Flying Boat Coming to Oshkosh
July 18, 2019 - The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, announced its plans to bring its Consolidated PBY Canso to Oshkosh for EAA AirVenture 2019. The Canso, known as a Catalina in the United States, was assigned to the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. It has since been restored in the colors of an airplane flown by RCAF Flt. Lt. David E. Hornell, who won the Victoria Cross for helping rescue his crew after they were shot down in the North Atlantic. Hornell's nephew will be accompanying the airplane on the flight from Victoria.
