Warbirds Adventure Tram Tour Enhanced for AirVenture 2018

July 21, 2018 - The Warbirds Adventure Tram Tour is back and bigger than ever during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018, thanks to a new home in a larger tent in the Warbirds area. The tram tour is narrated and carries attendees through the entire Warbirds area while guides explain the history behind the aircraft on display in the various zones.
The new tent measures 20 feet by 50 feet and is adorned with four big American flags proudly waving 15 feet in the air. The tent, known as Command HQ, is split into three areas for a cleaner flow through the tram tour experience, according to Warbirds Marketing Director Vic Krause, EAA 292930.
“We’ve made substantial improvements to the physical footprint of the attraction,” Vic said. “By going to this larger accommodation we’ve eliminated the vertical poles. It’s all a free-span open space, which gives us a lot more flexibility in the layout.”
The tent is divided into three bays: a registration area for when attendees first arrive, a briefing location to prepare them for the tour, and a multifunctional area home to complimentary goodie bags, Warbirds of America membership representatives, and prizes and awards that will be given out daily to new Warbirds of America members.
In addition, the scavenger hunt program that became a hit last year is back and also improved. The scavenger sheet has six warbird silhouettes on each side. Scavenger hunt participants who find and get autographs from pilots or flight crews of each corresponding warbird for one complete side get a swag bag filled with warbird stickers and decals.
Those who fill out the entire sheet with autographs receive the sticker swag bag and a Warbirds hat or T-shirt.
“We’ve tried to think of all the things we missed last year, and all the things that caused confusion, and we want to make this a great experience for everybody who participates,” Vic said. “And we want to make it simple and easy for all to understand. I’m excited. It’s a culmination of a year’s worth of work.”
The Warbirds Adventure Tram Tour runs daily during AirVenture 2018 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
