Navigating AirVenture 2017
The best sources of information on the AirVenture grounds
July 22, 2017 - Whether you’re a first-time visitor or an EAA AirVenture Oshkosh veteran, navigating the convention grounds can be overwhelming. Fortunately, there are a variety of information resources available to make planning your trip and getting around a bit easier.
The new Official Visitor & Camper’s Guide is the best source of general information for AirVenture grounds visitors. This all-in-one guide includes menus for the many dining locations at AirVenture, a list of exhibit locations throughout the grounds, guidelines for campers in Camp Scholler and aircraft camping, and a list of shopping and merchandise locations, including the Red One Market grocery stores. The guide also includes a list of important locations and phone numbers such as first aid, aircraft repair, as well as services available on the grounds and in the campground, such as laundry. The guide will also detail what to do in case of a weather emergency. These new guides will be available at all of the admission gates, AirVenture Welcome Center, and Forums Plaza.
Another new resource this year is the Forums Guide, which includes a list of presentations and forums occurring during AirVenture 2017. Daily listings of these events will also be included in AirVenture Today, which will provide up-to-date schedules and locations. The Forums Guide can be picked up at the same locations as the Official Visitor & Camper’s Guides.
This year’s EAA AirVenture App has a brand new look with improved functionality and easier navigation via Google Maps. The app will include all of the information provided in the Official Visitor & Camper’s Guide and the Forums Guide as well as a tool to help you plan your trip — My EAA. The My EAA function, found on the home screen of the app, allows you to save favorite exhibits, events, and services all in one place. You can also search the app for specific services, locations, and exhibits to make navigating the AirVenture grounds even simpler. This year the app is connected to Google Maps, which will show your precise location on the grounds, show directions to wherever you need to go on- or off-site, and allow you to pin your parking spot, campsite, or your favorite dining location. The AirVenture app is free to download from the Google Play Store or iTunes App Store.
