EAA Advocacy Efforts at AirVenture

EAA

Story By: Madison Nortz

EAA’s government advocacy team is looking forward to a full and productive week at AirVenture 2022! As top officials from the FAA, NTSB, and DOT join us this week, the team will be focused on advocating for general aviation and furthering policy pertaining to 100LL replacement, Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certificates (MOSAIC) implementation, unmanned aircraft system (UAS) integration, and task-based Phase I flight testing. We will also be hosting several events for the general public so we can hear from you. Join us at the Advocacy Booth, located in the EAA Member Center (which is part of the EAA Four Corners), or at one of our many government-hosted forums throughout the week.

The Advocacy Booth is a great place to get your most pressing aviation questions answered. Our team will be joined by EAA’s Aeromedical Advisory and Legal Advisory councils, who will be available to provide expert guidance in their respective fields. We will also host airport and flight-testing sessions as well as general advocacy sessions, where you can come to talk about anything else that is on your mind. See the complete schedule below.

The government advocacy team will also be hosting a number of forums encompassing a wide variety of topics. On Monday and Saturday, come join Government Relations Director Tom Charpentier and the Aeromedical Advisory Council in the Learn to Fly Center, where they will address some hot topics regarding FAA medicals and BasicMed. If you are interested in becoming an FAA designee, the “How to Become an FAA Designee” presentation is for you. Hosted by the AFS-600 Regulatory Support Division, this presentation is a great opportunity to find guidance and answer your questions about the process of becoming an FAA representative. It will be held Monday afternoon in the Vette Theater, which is located inside the EAA Aviation Museum.

On Tuesday, Government Advocacy Specialist Lily Johnson will host an Airport Operations and Ultralights forum in the Ultralights Forums Tent, where she will discuss the development of safety procedures that allow for the safe integration of ultralights into airport operations.

Thursday, we welcome FAA Acting Administrator Billy Nolen to AirVenture. Come hear from Mr. Nolen as he discusses important general aviation policy with EAA’s CEO and Chairman Jack J. Pelton at Theater in the Woods. The forum will be heavily focused on the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions (EAGLE) initiative, beyond line of sight (BVLOS)/UAS integration, and MOSAIC, with some time to field questions from the audience at the end. Check out the complete listing of forums and Advocacy Booth sessions below. We look forward to seeing you at one of these events!
