Join the Band! EAA Concert Band Again Forming for AirVenture 2016
May 5, 2016 - For the ninth year, EAA members and aviation enthusiasts are welcome and encouraged to use their musical talents for the EAA Concert Band, which will be playing at Theater in the Woods on Wednesday, July 27, during AirVenture 2016.
This is the only band of its kind, consisting of aviation-minded folks who get together to play an aviation event. In past years, more than 400 musicians from 32 states and five countries have participated. All are welcome, from 13 years old through those in their 90s, with everyone from military band members to those who have not played for many years – all expressing their love of music as well as their passion for aviation.
To sign up, go to the registration link as soon as possible to ensure adequate numbers for the band and availability of music.
The band’s first rehearsal will be Tuesday, July 26, at 9-10:30 a.m. on stage in the Theater in the Woods, with an additional rehearsal on Wednesday, July 27, at 10-11:30 a.m. at the Nature Center Tent No. 2. We have a possible performance to start the Tuesday, July 26, air show playing a few numbers and the National Anthem. The concert is scheduled for Theater in the Woods on Wednesday, 5-5:45 p.m. Details of what part participants will play and how to receive music will follow after you apply for the band. A follow up e-mail and link for the music will be sent to you in early June.
For those of you who play large instruments that can’t be transported easily, we have partnered up with Heid Music of 1750 W. South Park Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54902. Players can call them directly at (920) 651-4343 to reserve an instrument.
