Only Limited Tables, Tickets Remain for Gathering of Eagles
Ford’s featured auction addition: Bob Hoover Old Yeller Ford Mustang!
June 16, 2016 - One of aviation’s greatest evenings has only limited room left for you, as the annual EAA Gathering of Eagles event on Thursday, July 28, has only a few tables and individual tickets remaining in the Eagle Hangar of the EAA AirVenture Museum. The Gathering of Eagles brings together people from throughout the aviation community and industry for a meaningful purpose – raising funds for EAA’s youth aviation education initiatives.
The latest addition to the amazing live auction lineup is the one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang specially designed and built by Ford Motor Company for EAA’s event. This year, it honors aviation legend Bob Hoover with a design that salutes his famous P-51 Mustang Old Yeller, which Bob flew in air shows for many years.
“Ford’s support for more than a decade has meant so much for the Gathering of Eagles and, in turn, to the young people who benefit from EAA’s aviation programs,” said EAA CEO/Chairman Jack Pelton. “It adds to the support we see each year across the entire aviation community as we inspire the next generation of aviation.”
The live auction at the Gathering of Eagles has a variety of unique aviation items and experiences that can only be found at the event. There is also a silent auction on other opportunities throughout the evening.
One previously announced auction item, the ICON A5 aircraft, has been withdrawn from this year’s live auction roster as ICON is reorganizing its business and resetting its production totals for 2016.
“We had a conversation with ICON and with everything that they are undertaking right now, decided to make sure that any offering they had would be a positive experience for everyone involved,” Pelton said. “ICON still has a donation agreement with EAA that will be fulfilled as early as next year, but it’s important to ensure that the aircraft and support for a winning bidder would completely be in place.”
