Engaging Speakers, Innovation Highlight Tuesday at Theater in the Woods

June 20, 2019 - EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 attendees will have a few engaging options to choose from on Tuesday at Theater in the Woods, as some fascinating events during the day lead into the Evening with Innovators featuring the Founder's Innovation Prize in the evening.

First up is A Chat With Backcountry and STOL Aviators at 11:30 a.m., a panel discussion featuring backcountry aviators such as Steve Henry, Frank Knapp, Trent Palmer, Mark Patey, Mike Patey, CC Pocock, Kevin Quinn, and Cory Robin.

A View From the Cockpit of Flight 1380 is next up at 1 p.m., and features Capt. Tammie Jo Shults and First Officer Darren Ellisor detailing the catastrophic engine failure they battled in their Boeing 737-700 on April 17, 2018. Tammie Jo takes listeners inside the cockpit, as she and Darren battled for 22 minutes to land the jet safely.

Finally, EAA's Evening With Innovators featuring the Founder's Innovation Prize competition will be back at the Theater in the Woods at 7 p.m. Featuring the top five finishers from the competition geared toward reducing the rate of in-flight loss of control accidents in E-AB aircraft, this year's Founder's Innovation Prize will be emceed by Heather Penney, and judged by Charlie Precourt, Pat Anderson, Gregory Feith, Dave Morss, and Dick VanGrunsven. The first, second, and third place finishers will receive $25,000, $10,000, and $5,000, respectively.
