Salute to Veterans Cap Giveaway Thanks American Service Members
June 21, 2018 - Back by popular demand, the annual Salute to Veterans cap giveaway will take place on Friday, July 27 during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018.
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh’s Salute to Veterans is a special day to celebrate veterans in all branches of service. It includes the annual Salute to Veterans cap giveaway for U.S. military veterans and active duty military personnel, courtesy of U.S. Venture, Finnegan Aviation Services, and Barbara and Fred Telling, EAA Lifetime 519586.
“The cap giveaway is a visible and long overdue ‘thank you’ to our veterans,” said Ed Finnegan, EAA 497396, of Finnegan Aviation Services. “[This is] a small token to show our appreciation and respect to our veterans for the sacrifices they made and continue to make for our freedoms.”
Other July 27 events include a Veterans Breakfast at 8 a.m. (registration required), a special Warbirds in Review session at 1 p.m. and the Veterans Parade at 1:30 p.m. with World War II veteran Col. Dick Cole, B-25 Mitchell bomber copilot and the lone remaining Doolittle Raider from the famed 1942 mission over Japan planning on attending. In addition, several U.S. Air Force dignitaries are scheduled to participate.
EAA will also hold a welcome home ceremony on Friday evening at approximately 6:15 p.m. for the veterans returning to Oshkosh on the Old Glory Honor Flight after a daylong trip to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to their service.
