Celebrating the RAF at Theater in the Woods

July 5, 2018 - As part of EAA’s celebration of 100 years of the Royal Air Force at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018, we’ll be presenting a special program at the Theater in the Woods, sponsored by M&M’s, on Monday, July 23. The program will run from 8-10 p.m. and will be hosted by Matt Jolley, an air show announcer and award-winning host of Warbird Radio.

Jolley’s featured guest will be Allan Scott, who was an RAF squadron leader in World War II. Scott flew Spitfires with 124 Squadron at Biggin Hill before being posted to Malta, where he fought with distinction, and he is now the last surviving ace of that campaign. Scott served with the RAF from 1941 until 1976, spending much of his postwar career as a test pilot. He made the news and was even sent a congratulatory message from the queen, recently when he flew a Spitfire at age 94, and then again this past spring at age 96.

Also joining Jolley for the evening’s program is Group Captain Stephen Richards, the RAF’s Assistant Air Attaché in Washington, D.C., world-renowned warbird photographer John Dibbs, and Dave Hadfield, who will be flying the Mike Potter Aircraft Collection’s newly restored Spitfire Mk.IX to Oshkosh as part of a 5,000-mile goodwill tour across North America.
