EAA Young Eagles Raffle Supports EAA’s Mission for 11th Year

By Ti Windisch, EAA Staff Writer

July 23, 2018 - EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018 attendees can enter to win a 2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible through the 2018 Young Eagles Raffle, which supports the effort to get more young people involved in aviation.

Since the early years of EAA’s Young Eagles program, the EAA Young Eagles Raffle has supported Young Eagles’ mission of spreading The Spirit of Aviation by raffling off a new car, which has been a Ford Mustang since 2007.

The program has garnered $515,000 since 2014 and is run strictly by volunteers, including Jon Maxwell, who has been the chairman of the EAA Young Eagles Raffle for six years and spent another six volunteering at the raffle before that.

Raffle tickets are $100, and a maximum of 1,500 are sold each year starting months before EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. Tickets are sold until Sunday at noon, while supplies last. They were sold out by Saturday during AirVenture last year, so those interested in entering should do so sooner rather than later if tickets are still available.

The drawing that determines the EAA Young Eagles Raffle winner takes place on Sunday at 3 p.m., and will be streamed on Facebook Live this year. Entrants do not need to be present at the drawing to win the new Ford Mustang.

Tickets can be purchased at the EAA Aviation Museum in the gift shop, as well as at booths near the Brown Arch and Vintage area, in the Ford Motor Company tent on the grounds, and in the EAA AirVenture Welcome Center, where the Ford Mustang will sit during the week. The drawing will also take place in the Welcome Center.

The EAA Young Eagles Raffle is supported by Ford Motor Company, and the 2018 Ford Mustang GT was provided by Kocourek Ford in Wausau.
